Training The HBCF Training Centre is the largest provider of psychodynamic training outside London.

Our core model is psychodynamic:
Psychodynamic theory grows out of the work of Freud and other psychoanalysts. It uses the assumption that everyone has an unconscious mind and that feelings and fantasies held there can be too painful or challenging to be faced. Defences protect us from knowing about these feelings and fantasies but sometimes these defences restrict our capacity to enjoy life and fulfil our potential. Psychodynamic counselling aims to help the client become aware of, and understand, these feelings and fantasies in order to live with them.

HBCF-trained counsellors work in counselling services throughout the area.
At Herts. & Beds. Counselling Foundation we offer a range of training courses to suit everyone from an Introduction to Counselling to Diploma level qualifications studied over several years with placements at one of our five centres.
